Thanks to Gemma from Bigger Bolder Baking for this two ingredients mason jar ice cream that uses no machines or electronics and is one of the easiest ways to make ice cream I’ve seen. How is it? You’ll have to watch to find out.
1 CUP HEAVY CREAM (36% Milk Fat)
3-4 Tablespoons of Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 Wide Lid, Freeze Proof Mason Jar (Ball Mason Jars are Freeze proof)
1 Vanilla Pod scraped of its vanilla (or 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract)
In a cold mason jar, add the heavy cream, the sweetened condensed milk and if the vanilla, screw on the lid tightly, then shake for about 5 minutes. It is easy to over shake, if you do, the texture will be a bit chalky. The proper texture should coat a spoon, have a smooth looking texture and flow off the spoon in a somewhat fluid way.
Then place in the freezer for about 4-5 hours. Is it the best ice cream you’ve ever had? No. But it is definitely good and if you don’t have any ice cream gear, all you need is a mason jar and you’ve got ice cream.
If you freeze it overnight, it may need to temper in the fridge for 30 minutes for it to become easier to scoop.
Your support keeps the show running and is very much appreciated.
