McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, In n Out… Every single fast food restaurant you know and love owes its success to this little burger. Formed in Wichita, Kansas in 1921, White Castle was America’s first fast food company, pioneering standardization across locations and speed of service. This is arguably the most important burger that’s ever existed. And while commendable, they created quite a polarizing product—one that’s engineered primarily for speed rather than flavor. And having studied the spectrum of burgers that America is famous for, we can take what White Castle does well and modernize it. This is the White Castle burger, but my way is tastier, faster, and actually practical at home.
