Dan Dan Noodles

This fiery Sichuan street food known for its chewy wheat noodles and an intense spicy sauce packed with Sichuan chili peppers that deliver an addictive tongue-numbing punch and topped with crispy pork, this dish is going to make you sweat.

We make sense of the unfamiliar by comparing it to what we know. Ravioli? Italian dumplings. Croque Monsieur? French grilled cheese. Samosas? Indian empanadas. It’s not always right, but it’s human nature and often acts to bridge cultural food differences and lead to an understanding of something new.

So as an Italian American, when I look at Dandan noodles, I see one thing: Chinese Bolognese. And I mean no disrespect, but through that I discovered this incredible dish  that is fast, easy, and packs in the flavor and should be known to home cooks like you. This is Dan Dan noodles.
